Why the Selective Care in Haiti?
  • Why has the UN decided that the Haitian women are more important than the men and the children?
  • Where did you hear about that?
  • Carri,

I am a US ARMY Soldier Iraq war veteran of Haitian roots who is baffled by
or not appreciative of how the relief effort is being conducted in Haiti.

*THE PROBLEM:* With such incompetence, the dignity of the Haitian people
amidst this tragic incident of the quake is not being maintained by these
foreign relief aid teams. How are the relief teams there to really help the
Haitian people through their efforts if they do not see to it that the
Haitian people are treated with humane respect and dignity?

Chaos or not, I believe there are ways the relief teams can feed or
distribute the aid to the Haitian people without sensationalize the effort
for the world news media. Haitians are not to be fed like dogs in dens, but
rather with respect and again, dignity!

*SOLUTION:* Distributing Eating points can be set up in zone by zone basis
with or by color coordinated flags which can associated with issued meal
cards valid for 3-meals a day to match these points. Food distribution
lines can be set in categorized order by separate dignified lines and
segregating children, elders, women and then men while UN forces, US Marines
working along side with the Haitian police can provide adequate security,
policing and maintaining these lines' integrity in order to prevent
the strongest of unruly Haitians from getting or take all the food while
    the weak goes without.
  • Which is why they have decided to provide the relief directly to the people who are most likely to share it... the women.
  • Pepperfire,

Have I not been pushing for this since a long time ago on twitter? I mean I was the one who insisted, if you recall, that they should have done been treating the Haitian people through this relief effort with dignity and respect and not with sensationalism for the world news media because my Haitian people are not dogs in dens.

P.S: This above SOLUTION has been all along what I have been advocating for due to the fact I know the way they were distributing the food relief would end up having the strongest taking all the food while the weak are left without.
  • @AfroLatino
    Dude what is your twitter?
Also do you really think we (you and me sitting home) need to be telling the US army, the relief teams, the UN forces (brazilian Army) how to distribute food?
For them Haitians are dogs, there was a video I seen on youtube recently (Too bad I can't find it anymore) but this french journalist referred to Haitians as "Animals looking for a prey"
They do not care. IMHO its just PR for them and news for AC360

    @Pepperfire
Do you think it's really why? I am a father and husband and I would be more willing to share not only with my family but with anyone else.
They are just not doing a great job and not worried about lifting a finger.
I'n desperate time, even women and believe me Haitian women are fierce will do anything to get a grain of rice.

It makes no difference. Men, Women every one should be in line, respect each other even when there is a crisis and make things happen.
I might be wrong sitting here in Austin. Maybe some people from Haiti need to comment here!
